How we create change

One shared approach. Many ways to take part.

A journey from listening to transformation, with room for every voice along the way.

Five connected dimensions

We listen to the community, create from what it shares, and bring that work back through art. These encounters can build connection and make room for change. The stages can overlap and be revisited.

EscuchArte

Recognition

We begin by listening to the community: its stories, feelings and needs.

Explore this dimension

Through conversations and participatory encounters, we make room for what people choose to share. We seek to understand what matters to them, respecting their privacy and their ways of expressing themselves. This listening guides what we create.

CreArte

Expression

What we hear becomes a starting point for artistic projects, experiences and spaces.

Explore this dimension

Stories, ideas and concerns from the community inspire our creative work. Through theatre, dance, music and other forms of expression, we shape proposals that respond to the people and their context.

ContArte

Visibility

We share what we have created, bringing stories to life through art.

Explore this dimension

A performance, a dance or a participatory experience brings creative work into an encounter with others. We share it with the community in an artistic form, caring for the stories and voices that inspired it.

ConectArte

Belonging

Art offers a space to recognise ourselves and connect with others.

Explore this dimension

Seeing an experience expressed in a new way can invite reflection, conversation and participation. In these shared spaces, people can connect with their own experiences, discover common ground and build a sense of belonging.

TransformArte

Community

Listening, creating, sharing and connecting can open up new ways of seeing, participating and relating.

Explore this dimension

Change may begin with feeling heard, recognising something of ourselves in a story, finding the confidence to participate or building a new relationship. Over time, these experiences can contribute to wellbeing and community life. Each journey depends on the people, the context and the continuity of the encounters.

The names pair actions in Spanish with “arte” — art — as part of AMARTE’s identity.

Across everything we do

These dimensions run through our workshops, cultural and community spaces, and performances. The journey begins with listening and moves towards transformation. Its dimensions can overlap and be revisited, depending on the people, context and purpose.

AMARTE CULTURE

Acknowledgement of Country

AMARTE Culture acknowledges the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the Country where we gather, create and connect. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders past and present, and honour their enduring cultural and spiritual connection to Country.

We honour the First Peoples of this land, whose cultures, stories and connections to Country continue across generations.

As we gather on Kaurna Country, we do so with respect for its Traditional Custodians and their continuing care for Country.

About Country and Elders

Country encompasses relationships with land, waters, culture and community. Elders are recognised cultural knowledge holders and leaders. These terms are retained in the Spanish version to respect their specific meaning.
